Israir seeks approval for Tel Aviv-Miami route

Israir is awaiting final approval for a nonstop route between Tel Aviv and Miami, and has also applied for permission to operate flights to and from Tokyo, according to a newspaper report cited by the carrier.

The Israeli low-cost airline said it was working to secure the remaining approvals needed for additional routes and would provide updates once those processes were complete.

Israir's only current U.S. destination is New York-JFK. That service returned earlier this month following a pause of nearly 20 years.

On the Tel Aviv-Miami sector, El Al is presently the sole operator of nonstop flights. The Israeli flag carrier also serves JFK, Newark, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
