Kuehne+Nagel opens pharma logistics hub at Frankfurt Airport
Kuehne+Nagel has opened a temperature-controlled logistics centre for pharmaceutical and healthcare products at Frankfurt Airport, part of a larger company complex on the cargo campus.
Kuehne+Nagel has opened a logistics centre at Frankfurt Airport dedicated to pharmaceutical and healthcare products. The facility covers 3,505 square metres in the airport's Cargo City South area and is designed for temperature-sensitive shipments.
About 2,500 square metres of the site is set aside for products requiring storage at 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. A further 500-plus square metres handles cool-chain shipments at two to eight degrees. Freezers capable of reaching minus 70 degrees are also part of the set-up.
The building has direct apron access and forms part of a 13,000 square metre Kuehne+Nagel complex at the airport. Frankfurt has already been added to the company's Boeing 747-8 freighter network and linked to Atlanta through a cool corridor.
The company did not give a figure for the investment or state how many staff will work at the site.
