LATAM to add SES inflight wifi to 60 more narrowbody aircraft

LATAM has confirmed an expanded partnership with SES to bring multi-orbit inflight internet to 60 additional single-aisle aircraft, extending a deal dating back to 2022.

LATAM has confirmed plans to extend its inflight connectivity partnership with satellite provider SES, adding 60 more single-aisle aircraft to the service. The agreement builds on a partnership between the two companies that began in 2022 covering the airline's A320 fleet.

According to the companies, LATAM has selected a multi-orbit connectivity solution from SES that uses the Gilat Sidewinder electronically steered antenna. The system allows aircraft to draw connectivity from SES's geostationary satellite constellation as well as leased capacity on the Eutelsat OneWeb low-earth-orbit network.

The latest announcement extends the wifi rollout to additional Airbus A320neo-family jets; LATAM has orders for around 80 narrowbody aircraft from Airbus. The deal also confirms earlier reporting that SES would supply connectivity for LATAM's incoming Embraer E2 fleet, for which the airline holds firm orders for 24 aircraft and options for a further 50.

Separately, LATAM's long-haul aircraft are being equipped with a Ka-band connectivity system from Viasat, under an agreement announced in mid-2025.

No financial terms of the expanded SES agreement were disclosed.
