Lockheed Martin teases announcement on Vectis combat drone
Lockheed Martin has posted a cryptic video hinting at news about Vectis, its internally funded Group 5 Collaborative Combat Aircraft, which is aiming for a first flight in 2027.
Lockheed Martin has teased an upcoming announcement about Vectis, the Group 5 Collaborative Combat Aircraft its Skunk Works division is developing. A short video posted to social media shows the silhouette of an aircraft, captioned "Next level unlocked. More to come." The company did not say what the announcement will cover or name Vectis explicitly.
The silhouette appears to match the image on Vectis keychains handed out at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, the only official depiction of the aircraft from the front, the same angle shown in the teaser.
Work on the prototype continues. Lockheed Martin unveiled the program on Sept. 21, 2025, describing Vectis as a Group 5 survivable and lethal Collaborative Combat Aircraft. It is now internally funded, with a prototype under development and possibly already being built. First flight is targeted for 2027.
