Malaysia Airlines and Firefly renew IATA IOSA safety certification
Malaysia Airlines has extended its IATA Operational Safety Audit registration to July 2028, while sister carrier Firefly's certification runs to February 2028.
Malaysia Airlines has renewed its registration under the International Air Transport Association's Operational Safety Audit programme, extending the certification until July 2028. Sister carrier Firefly also holds a current IOSA registration, valid until February 2028, according to parent company Malaysia Aviation Group.
Alongside the certification news, the group reported improved punctuality figures. Malaysia Airlines posted an average on-time performance of 90.8 percent in the first half of 2026, peaking at 93.8 percent in April.
Firefly recorded an average punctuality rate of 92.5 percent over the same period. The company said this was its best result in five years, and the regional carrier reached 94.2 percent in March.
Malaysia Aviation Group also said complaints related to flight delays fell by nearly half compared with the previous year. No further detail was given on the scope of the complaints data or how it was measured.
