Mexico orders second Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules

Lockheed Martin has announced that Mexico is expanding its transport aircraft fleet with a second C-130J-30 Super Hercules. The Mexican air force had already announced the purchase of a first example in January. That earlier order made Mexico the first country in Latin America to join the global C-130J fleet.

The C-130J-30 is a stretched version of the Hercules, with 15 feet of additional cargo space. According to Lockheed Martin, it offers greater range, payload and fuel efficiency. The first aircraft was used to transport relief supplies, medical equipment and personnel after the earthquakes in Venezuela. With the second aircraft, Mexico intends to double its capacity for humanitarian operations in the region.
