Miami reopens third runway after fatal Amazon Air freighter crash
Miami airport restored full use of a third runway after the wreckage of an Amazon Air freighter was removed, while a fourth runway stays shut for inspections and repairs.
Three of Miami airport's four runways are fully back in use after the wreckage of a fatal Amazon cargo flight was cleared on Tuesday, 15 September. Restrictions on the third runway were lifted once the remains of the Boeing 767-300F had been removed. The fourth runway stays closed for further inspections and repairs.
The freighter, flown by 21 Air for Amazon Air, ran off the end of a runway after landing on 6 September, struck vehicles and caught fire. Five people died and several others were injured, including both pilots. The NTSB is investigating the cause.
