Miles & More Reopens Retroactive CO2 Offset Purchases With Status Points
Lufthansa Group's frequent flyer program has resumed allowing members to buy CO2 reduction packages for flights already taken, after a suspension that lasted several months. The packages grant extra miles and status points.

Miles & More has brought back retroactive CO2 reduction packages after a suspension lasting several months. Members of the Lufthansa Group frequent flyer program can once again add the packages after a flight and collect extra miles, Points and Qualifying Points for doing so.
The service had been paused since March 2026. It was supposed to return much earlier, but technical problems kept pushing the restart back. According to Miles & More, the trouble lay in the interfaces used to credit the extra miles and status points. The most recent relaunch date announced was September.
The rework also widened the offer: CO2 reduction packages can now be selected for several flights at once.
For frequent flyers, the retroactive credit applies to flights from 1 January 2026. The additional Points and Qualifying Points count toward the 2026 flight year, so they can still help members reach or extend a status tier. Miles & More has not said how many members have used the reinstated option in the weeks since the restart, or how much the packages cost.
