Namibia in Talks With Ethiopian Airlines Over Stake in New National Carrier
Namibia is discussing Ethiopian Airlines' potential involvement in the planned national carrier Namibia Air, with options ranging from technical support to an equity stake with management roles.

Namibia is talking to Ethiopian Airlines about a role in the planned national carrier Namibia Air. No decision has been reached.
Ethiopian could provide technical support for aircraft procurement, maintenance and certification without taking a stake. If it invests, it would seek to fill the chief executive, chief financial officer and maintenance chief positions.
Fleet plans are a sticking point. Namibia favours four Embraer ERJ 145s plus three E170 or E175 jets. Ethiopian would start with ATR 72-600 aircraft.
Namibia Air has already received operating licences and aims for a first flight in early December.
