Qatar civil aviation authority publishes first data-driven eAIP

The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority has released its first electronic aeronautical information publication built on data-driven methods, using Frequentis technology with Bayanat Engineering Qatar. The authority says the publication lays groundwork for digital notices to airmen and future trajectory-based operations.

The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority has published its first electronic aeronautical information publication produced from data rather than conventional document formats, according to the authority. The work was carried out with Frequentis technology and in partnership with Bayanat Engineering Qatar.

Aeronautical information publications set out the operational and regulatory details pilots and operators need for a country's airspace and airports. Publishing the data in electronic, structured form is described as a step toward distributing that information as machine-readable data.

The authority said the release provides the basis for digital notices to airmen and for trajectory-based operations in the future, without giving a timetable for either.

Qatar's regulator framed the project as reinforcing its standing in aviation digitalisation in the Middle East.
