Rocket hits fuel depot at Riyadh airport, flights delayed

A rocket hit a fuel depot at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday morning, according to a report. Black smoke rose in a large column over the airport.

Air raid sirens had sounded in the Saudi capital beforehand, the report said, and air defences were activated. The projectile was said to have been fired by the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Flights to and from Riyadh were heavily delayed on Saturday afternoon. Operations have since resumed, though disruptions continue. Air France cancelled its flights to Riyadh through 22 September in response to the attack.
