Saab to supply remote air traffic control tower for Stockholm-Västerås airport
Stockholm-Västerås airport will move to remotely operated air traffic control under a 15-year contract with Saab, which will manage the traffic from its remote tower centre in Sundsvall.
Stockholm-Västerås airport is moving to remotely operated air traffic control. Saab won a 15-year contract and will handle the airport's air traffic from its Remote Tower Centre in Sundsvall.
The agreement takes effect on 1 January 2028. Saab supplies a camera tower, digital workstations for air traffic controllers and meteorological services, and is responsible for the digital infrastructure for the duration of the contract.
Västerås becomes the fifth Swedish airport where Saab deploys this technology, following Sundsvall-Timrå, Sälen, Örnsköldsvik and Linköping.
