UK airport uses 6D road scanning to assess 120km of runways and taxiways

A UK airport of medium size is surveying about 120km of runways, taxiways and operational areas with 6D road scanning technology.

The airport's innovation group is carrying out the work, according to the project account. Airport paved surfaces take heavy loads and intensive operational use, and the airport says it needs reliable information on surface conditions and where problems lie to keep those areas in good condition.
