Skydivers parachute to help after light aircraft crash in Wisconsin

A light single-engine aircraft crashed in a cornfield south of East Troy Municipal Airport in Wisconsin on September 27, 2026, at about 13:30 local time, near the intersection of Carvers School Road and Lawlor Road.

Skydive Milwaukee community members were already aloft in a jump plane when they saw the crash below. Some on board were trained emergency medical technicians. Reaching the wreckage by road was difficult, so the pilot offered to put the EMT-trained skydivers down near the site. Air traffic control audio recorded the pilot asking whether they could be dropped over the area. The controller left the call to the pilot.

The skydivers descended and went to the aid of the aircraft's occupants. Skydive Milwaukee said the crashed aircraft was not connected to its operation.

All four people on board survived. Three were taken for medical evaluation; a fourth was examined at the scene and released, the town police department and East Troy Fire Rescue said in a joint statement. Neither agency disclosed the occupants' identities or their conditions.

East Troy Fire Rescue, the Walworth County Sheriff's Department and the Town and Village of East Troy police departments responded, with the Walworth County Communications Center coordinating. The joint statement credited Skydive Milwaukee with helping in the response.
