SkyDrive plans 2028 eVTOL sightseeing flights on Australia's Gold Coast
Japanese eVTOL maker SkyDrive has signed a letter of intent with Gold Coast Helitours to supply up to five SD-05 aircraft for scenic tourist flights.
Japanese eVTOL developer SkyDrive has agreed preliminary terms with Gold Coast Helitours, an Australian helicopter operator, to supply its SD-05 aircraft.
The letter of intent covers pricing and a delivery timeline. According to SkyDrive, two aircraft are expected to arrive in 2028, with three more following in 2029. The eVTOLs would be used for scenic sightseeing flights over the Gold Coast region.
SkyDrive described the deal as its first aircraft introduction agreement with an operator in Australia. It is not yet a firm order. Certification and regulatory approval for eVTOL operations in Australia are among the steps still needed before the aircraft can enter commercial service.
No financial terms were disclosed. The companies gave no further detail on how the scenic flight service would be structured or priced once it becomes operational.
