SkyDrive to supply eVTOL aircraft for Gold Coast sightseeing flights
Japanese manufacturer SkyDrive has signed a letter of intent with Gold Coast Helitours to supply up to five SD-05 eVTOL aircraft for scenic flights, with deliveries targeted for 2028 and 2029.
Japanese eVTOL developer SkyDrive has signed a preliminary agreement with Australian helicopter operator Gold Coast Helitours to supply electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft for tourist flights.
Under the letter of intent, the two companies have agreed on pricing and a delivery timeline for up to five SD-05 aircraft. Two units are due in 2028, with three more following in 2029.
SkyDrive called the deal its first aircraft introduction agreement with an operator in Australia. The aircraft would fly scenic sightseeing routes over the Gold Coast region, an area currently served by conventional helicopter tours.
The agreement is non-binding at this stage, which is typical for letters of intent. Further details on certification, operational approval, and infrastructure requirements were not disclosed.
