The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) is investigating a low flypast by two Airlink jets over DHL Stadium in Cape Town. Flight data recorders from the Embraer E190 and E195 involved have been downloaded to determine altitude and speed during the overflight.
The formation flight took place on 29 August before a rugby match between South Africa and New Zealand. It had been approved in principle. Airlink said the flypast was conducted properly.
After public criticism, the authority launched a review of how the event was actually flown. Airlink has since withdrawn an application for another planned stadium flypast in Johannesburg.
