Southwest and United refuse new 737 MAX jets over software issue
Two US carriers say they will not take delivery of new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft fitted with a flight-management-computer software problem that the FAA is reviewing.
Southwest Airlines and United Airlines have told Boeing they will reject new 737 MAX planes built with a recently found software fault, according to CNBC. The fault affects the flight-management computer and, in a specific missed-approach scenario, it can cause automated vertical navigation to disengage, the report said.
The Federal Aviation Administration is reviewing the problem. Boeing is waiting for certification of the 737-10 and preparing to hand over the newly certified 737-7. The deliveries in question are the aircraft fitted with the affected software.
