Spirit Airlines approved to sell 27 Airbus jets in bankruptcy case
A court has cleared Spirit Airlines to sell 27 older-generation Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft for a total of 668.1 million dollars, with most going to a creditor-controlled entity.

A court has authorised Spirit Airlines to sell a final large batch of aircraft as part of its bankruptcy proceedings. The approval covers 27 Airbus A320 and A321 jets from an older generation, built between 2015 and 2018 and fitted with V2500 engines, for a combined 668.1 million dollars.
Most of the fleet — 23 aircraft — goes to a company controlled by Spirit's creditors for 567.4 million dollars. Part of that purchase price will be offset against existing claims.
The remaining four Airbus A321s are being taken over by FTAI Aircraft Leasing for 100.7 million dollars in cash.
Spirit had stopped passenger operations on 2 May 2026.
