Storm damages stored Boeing 737s and small aircraft at Forlì airport

A storm hit the northern Italian city of Forlì on a Friday afternoon in August, with wind gusts reportedly reaching between 100 and 120 kilometres per hour. The system lasted around ten minutes but left widespread damage behind, felling trees, flooding streets and damaging buildings across the area.

Forlì's airport was among the sites affected. A hangar wall was damaged by the wind, according to local reporting. Two Boeing 737-800 aircraft in storage at the airport sustained damage to their winglets and auxiliary power units, the aviation news outlet Italia Vola reported.

Four small aircraft were also damaged in the storm. One, a Tecnam P2008, was flipped onto its back by the gusts.

No injuries were reported in connection with the damage at the airport. The extent of repairs needed for the two 737s and the smaller aircraft has not been detailed.
