SWISS begins Starlink inflight Wi-Fi rollout with A320neo
SWISS has started fitting its fleet with Starlink satellite internet, with the first equipped aircraft entering passenger service on a Zurich–Thessaloniki flight. Access is free for Miles & More and Travel ID members across all cabins.
Swiss International Air Lines has begun the phased introduction of a high-speed satellite connectivity system powered by Starlink, which the carrier says will give passengers a fast and reliable internet connection from gate to gate.
The first aircraft fitted with the system is an Airbus A320neo registered HB-JDM and named "Iseltwald". Its formal entry into regular passenger service is set for Monday 28 September 2026, operating flight LX1852 between Zurich and Thessaloniki.
The airline says the service is part of a wider deployment being carried out within the Lufthansa Group under the commercial name "Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi powered by Starlink".
Access will be free for members of the Miles & More programme and for users registered with Travel ID, and the benefit covers every cabin. Passengers will be able to send messages, share photographs and use a range of online services throughout the journey, according to the airline.
The rollout will proceed in stages. Three further aircraft from the Airbus A320 family are to be equipped next, after which installation will continue gradually across the rest of the fleet. The airline's connectivity modernisation plan is scheduled to cover the full fleet by 2029.
