United to fly Newark–Terceira with 737 MAX 8
United Airlines will use a Boeing 737 MAX 8, not a widebody, on its new seasonal Newark–Terceira service, which becomes its shortest European route by distance and scheduled flying time.

United Airlines has scheduled a seasonal service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Terceira in the Azores, to be flown by the Boeing 737 MAX 8 rather than a widebody or the Airbus A321XLR.
Flights are set to run three times per week from June 9 through September 5, 2027. According to the airline, the route will be its shortest European service by both distance and scheduled flying time.
Terceira marks the clearest example so far of how far United believes a modern narrowbody can stretch across the Atlantic, the carrier's planning indicates.
