SyberJet says SJ30-2 sets transcontinental speed record
SyberJet Aircraft reported its SJ30-2 light jet flew nonstop from Jacksonville to San Diego in about four hours and seven minutes, claiming an unofficial speed record pending certification.
SyberJet Aircraft says its SJ30-2 business jet flew nonstop from Jacksonville, Florida, to San Diego, California, in roughly four hours and seven minutes on Friday, averaging 505.3 mph. The company described the trip as an unofficial east-to-west transcontinental speed record in the C-1f aircraft class under the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale's classification system, which covers landplanes weighing between about 13,228 and 19,842 pounds. SyberJet said the flight beat a previous mark of 339.4 mph set by an Embraer Phenom 300 in 2013.
Gordon Bryan piloted the aircraft. SyberJet chief executive Trevor Milton was aboard and called the outcome fantastic, thanking the pilot, mechanics and staff involved. He said it backed up the company's claim to building the fastest and farthest-flying light jet available.
Certification of the record by the National Aeronautic Association and the FAI is expected to take about 90 days, according to SyberJet.
The SJ30-2 used in the flight is FAA certified. The company plans to show it at NBAA-BACE 2026 at Henderson Executive Airport. That aircraft also serves as the basis for SyberJet's SJ36, a jet under development, which the company plans to unveil at a separate event held alongside NBAA-BACE in Las Vegas.
SyberJet is based in Chandler, Arizona, with additional operations in San Antonio, Texas, and Cedar City, Utah.
