Transavia equips entire Airbus fleet with Iris satellite technology
Transavia is fitting its whole Airbus fleet with the Iris satellite system, which is intended to improve cockpit-to-air-traffic-control communication and allow more direct routing and efficient flight levels. The airline has already begun using it on commercial flights.
Transavia is equipping its entire Airbus fleet with the Iris satellite technology, which is designed to improve communication between the cockpit and air traffic control. According to the airline, that should allow more direct routes and more efficient flight levels, cutting fuel consumption and with it CO₂ emissions.
Aircraft delivered new since late 2025 are already fitted with Iris. Six Airbus A321s have the technology, and 13 aircraft delivered earlier are to receive the corresponding software in the coming months. The retrofit of the full Airbus fleet is due to be completed by the end of October.
Transavia already uses Iris on commercial flights as part of the European airspace project ESMA.
