TSA Program Allows Non-Ticketed Visitors at Airport Gates
A new TSA program lets PreCheck members without a boarding pass pass through security to greet arriving passengers or send off departing ones at 13 U.S. airports.
The Transportation Security Administration has introduced Gateside, a program that lets TSA PreCheck members and holders of Known Traveler Numbers pass through airport security without a boarding pass. They can greet arriving passengers or see departing ones off at the gate. Visitors may also meet a traveler during a layover or use airport shops and restaurants.
Participants apply through the PreCheck website one to three days before their visit. There is no fee. Children are eligible but must be listed on their parent or guardian's application. At the checkpoint, visitors show identification and may need to display their approved status in the PreCheck portal.
Gateside is available at 13 airports: Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Las Vegas, Mesa Gateway, Los Angeles, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City, Little Rock, Indianapolis, Omaha, Wichita, and Columbus.
