Two retired Boeing 747s converted into hotel suites in Malaysia

A hotel in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, has turned two retired Boeing 747 jumbo jets into guest suites. One of the aircraft once flew for Pan Am; the other previously operated for Japan Airlines, according to the report.

The jets sit at the 1975 Avenue & Hotel, which markets the units to travelers drawn to aviation history. Part of the appeal for guests staying in the converted cabins is the aircraft's past life as long-haul passenger planes.

Both jets appear to have left commercial service before being acquired for the conversion project. The report did not say when they were withdrawn from airline use, or when the conversion work happened.
