US Army accelerates MV-75 Cheyenne II to replace Black Hawk by 2030

The US Army is accelerating the MV-75 Cheyenne II, a tiltrotor, toward service around 2030, when it will begin replacing the UH-60 Black Hawk on certain missions. The Army's 101st Airborne Division is the first unit slated to receive the type.

The service describes the move as part of a shift toward projecting power and countering adversaries in the Indo-Pacific, China among them. The Cheyenne II offers only modest gains in payload and troop capacity over the aircraft it replaces. Its main emphasis is greater range and speed.
