Vietjet registers first Boeing 737 Max in Australia
Vietjet has placed a Boeing 737 Max 8 on the Australian register, with a Melbourne-based company listed as operator. The airline says it intends to lease the aircraft to an Australian business seeking an operating licence.
Vietjet has registered an aircraft in Australia for the first time. The Boeing 737 Max 8, registration VH-T8A, was added to the register of the Australian aviation authority CASA on 23 September. Melbourne-based Cherrie Aviation is named as the operator, according to Australian Aviation.
The Vietnamese low-cost carrier confirmed it plans to lease the aircraft to an Australian company that is applying for an operating licence. An application of this kind from Vietjet was already reported earlier this year.
The registration points to the build-up of Australian flight operations. A fleet of about ten aircraft is under discussion.
