Virgin Atlantic started nonstop flights between London Heathrow and Phuket International Airport on 18 October 2026, the first direct service linking Heathrow with the Thai destination. The airline had announced the route almost a year earlier.

It is a seasonal winter operation, scheduled three times a week from mid-October until late March, according to schedule data from the aviation analytics company Cirium. Flight VS214 leaves Heathrow at 15:45 local time and reaches Phuket at 09:55 the following day, a scheduled 12 hours and 10 minutes. After a 110-minute turnaround, VS215 departs Phuket at 11:45 local time and arrives back in London at 19:20 the same day, with a block time of 13 hours and 40 minutes.

The route uses Boeing 787-9s seating 258 passengers: 31 Upper Class seats in a 1-1-1 layout, 35 Premium seats in 2-3-2 and 192 Economy seats in 3-3-3, of which 36 are Economy Delight with extra legroom. Virgin Atlantic intends to refit the 787 fleet with more premium seating, moving to 44 Upper Class, 56 Premium and 127 Economy seats.

Phuket draws European travellers in winter, and the carrier enters a market where other leisure operators already fly. TUI serves the island from the UK, including London Gatwick and Manchester, and from Nordic cities such as Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Helsinki and Stockholm. Condor connects it with Frankfurt, and Norse Atlantic Airways flies from Oslo.
