Zelenskyy's Plane Narrowly Avoids Drone Over Moldova

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said the aircraft carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was nearly hit by a drone while departing Moldova, according to NRK.

On Tuesday, a Shahed-type drone entered Moldovan airspace. The defense ministry said it was detected at about 4:20 p.m. and tracked by the military. About 17 minutes later it continued toward Romania. The incident prompted airspace closures and alerts, and NATO fighter jets were scrambled.

Zelenskyy was aboard the plane at the time. He was traveling to Norway to meet Støre and attend the funeral of King Harald V.

A source told the Kyiv Independent the drone came from Russia and almost struck the presidential aircraft. It is not known whether the overlap was coincidental or intentional.
