Zurich Airport to sell minority stake in Belo Horizonte airport

Flughafen Zürich AG is divesting its 12.75% stake in Belo Horizonte's international airport to Asur subsidiary Aeropuerto de Cancún, expecting a one-off profit of about CHF 17 million.

Flughafen Zürich AG has agreed to sell its 12.75 percent minority stake in the international airport of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The buyer is Aeropuerto de Cancún, a subsidiary of the Mexican airport operator Asur.

The Swiss company said it expects a one-time net profit of around 17 million francs once the deal closes. Completion still depends on regulatory approval.

Zurich Airport first took part in the concession for Belo Horizonte airport in 2013. The Brazilian airport handled roughly 13.3 million passengers in 2025, according to the company.

The sale fits into a broader shift in strategy. Flughafen Zürich AG said it now wants to focus its international activities on holdings where it has a majority stake and direct operational control, rather than minority positions such as the one in Belo Horizonte.

The company disclosed no financial details beyond the expected profit figure, and gave no timeline for when the transaction is expected to close.
