Synopsis
Passenger on B757 aircraft reported hearing a significant amount of cabin noise in flight and suggested it was due to a door gasket leaking air.
Narrative
We returned on Flight XXX on Day 0 - we thoroughly enjoyed the crew services but I have deep reservations about the aircraft maintenance. Before boarding we were told that charging systems and seatback video were inoperative - that's disappointing but not my primary concern. We were seated in row XX - port side. The main entry door was X row in front of us. We noticed the flight attendants having considerable trouble securing the rescue slide selector and repeatedly pressing hard on the door after closing. Upon reaching high altitude we experienced significant cabin noise. Once walking to the forward galley; I noticed this same door was the source of a very loud (100+ dB) wind noise. I believe it is due to the leading-edge gasket leaking significantly; I could feel the draft at the door jam. I then discussed this with the flight attendants who were not surprised. After landing I sought out one of the pilots and his response was: Yes; we know about it. These are great planes but getting older and maintenance is problematic .... This is not something to be delayed. At this point; I thoroughly understand the problems Boeing is experiencing and many are due to the airline operators and their maintenance policies. I will be reporting my observations.
