Synopsis

Flight Instructor reported descending too low during a simulated engine failure.

Narrative

Working on simulated engine failure with student and was demonstrating and busted 500 minimum required distance from house/property. We went around at 400 feet and startled some horses; I should have gone around sooner and was distracted talking to my student. Very sorry :(.
