Synopsis

A Ground Controller reported an aircraft turned the wrong direction on a taxiway placing it in conflict with another aircraft.

Narrative

Aircraft X was issued taxi instructions to Runway XXL/1 via 2-3-4; which they read back. When I looked up a moment later; they had joined Taxiway 5 in the opposite direction of oncoming traffic. I instructed them to stop; because there was opposite direction traffic. Aircraft X complained about having to slam on their brakes even though they were the ones that joined the wrong taxiway; and the opposite direction traffic on 1 complained about having to slam on the brakes. Aircraft X continued to complain in an unprofessional tone. They were also taxiing faster than advisable.Share this with their company; because this kind of thing happens all of the time. They go the wrong way and then complain to ATC about it; even though they were in the wrong. It should be noted they we are all in a safety profession and should remain professional at all times. Additionally; share this with the city. The constantly changing flow of the taxiways due to construction; it's causing confusion for the pilots and we have wrong turns multiple times every single day.
