A320 Captain reported fumes in the flight deck during taxi. Crew advised maintenance and returned to gate.

Narrative

We were taxiing out to the runway at ZZZ. Suddenly we smelled a strong smell that smelled like burning wires and the FO side Console/Floor light went out. We stopped and made a logbook entry and contacted Dispatch and Maintenance Control. Maintenance Control advised us to return to the gate so we did. Maintenance came on the plane and determined it was a faulty wire and gave me some paperwork to fill out; so I did. We were then swapped into a different plane and completed the flight.
