Synopsis

DC8 crew crosses intersection at assigned altitude and controller disagrees with what is assigned.

Narrative

Rewritten in plain English from NASA’s original all-caps telegraphic report — facts, figures, and terminology preserved.

Narrative not used. Supplemental info from ACN 456342: ZSU gave us a clearance to descend and maintain 10000 feet at Beano intersection at 250 knots. We acknowledged clearance and read back the crossing restriction.

Once we were level at 10000 feet at Beano, ZSU asked us to verify our altitude and told us our clearance was to cross Beano at 11000 feet and 250 knots. We responded that we acknowledged his clearance to 10000 feet at 250 knots and were not corrected.

No traffic conflict occurred that we were aware of. I sometimes feel ATC feels no responsibility to listen to readbacks!

ONCE WE WERE LEVEL AT 10000 FT AT BEANO; ZSU ASKED US TO VERIFY OUR ALT AND TOLD US OUR CLRNC WAS TO CROSS BEANO AT 11000 FT AND 250 KTS.
