History of Flight
On August 20, 2019, at 15:35 LT, an Agusta A109C helicopter with registration SX-HTO, operated by IFLY SA Company, took off from the Landing Field in the area of Galata for a commercial air transport flight to Athens International Airport. The helicopter was carrying three occupants: the pilot and two passengers.
Accident Sequence
34 seconds after take-off, the helicopter collided in sequence with three power cables that crossed the channel, positioned 314 meters from the take-off point. After striking the cables, the helicopter crashed into the sea.
Damage and Injuries
The helicopter was destroyed by the collision with the cables and by the impact with the sea surface. The three occupants of the helicopter were fatally injured.
