Incident Summary
On 17 October 2021 at 18:27 local time, a Cessna 525 Citation Jet l, registration M-OLLY, operated by EHRLE Consulting GmbH, was conducting a private non-commercial flight from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (Serbia) to Memmingen Airport (Germany). During the takeoff phase, the pilot observed a tendency for the aircraft to veer to the right. Subsequently, one of the two passengers reported seeing a flash and flame on the right side of the aircraft. The pilot, who was the sole pilot in command, decided to execute a rejected takeoff at a speed of approximately 96 knots.
Sequence of Events
After the rejected takeoff, the aircraft exited the runway via taxiway B and continued onto taxiway A. The pilot soon lost control of the aircraft, which skidded onto the grassy area adjacent to taxiway A. The aircraft came to a stop on the grass. The pilot then performed engine and system shutdown procedures, evacuated the aircraft with the other occupants, and awaited airport services. The airport fire service arrived shortly after and extinguished a fire that had developed on the right main landing gear leg.
Damage
The aircraft sustained light/minor damage in the wheel area of both main landing gear legs. The tires were punctured, brakes burnt, and wheel rims damaged. No damage was caused to third parties.
Injuries
No injuries were reported among the crew, passengers, or other persons.
