Incident Summary
During arrival, the pilot executed an ILS approach and landed on a smooth, wet, asphalt runway. Wind conditions were calm. The runway length was 3,850 feet. The pilot reported normal deceleration while using speed brakes and maximum braking technique.
Landing and Deceleration
After touchdown, the pilot momentarily released the brakes and then reapplied heavy braking until the aircraft slowed to a fast taxi speed. As the pilot began to exit the runway and use the brakes again, the aircraft departed the runway and crossed a ditch.
Runway Excursion
The excursion caused the structure of both main landing gear to penetrate the upper wing skin. Runway 03/21 at Chino Airport is 6,200 feet long.
