The pilot of a helicopter reported that he was nearing the end of an agricultural spraying operation, with only two passes remaining, when the accident happened. The passes were flown north-south, with the wind from the west at 5 to 10 knots.
After completing a southward pass, the pilot pulled up to clear tall trees at the end of the field and initiated a turn back to the north, intending to return for another pass. While heading back over the trees, the pilot realized he was flying into the trees. He attempted to reduce the collective pitch in order to increase rotor and engine RPM, but this action did not stop the helicopter's descent.
The main rotor blade then struck a tree, causing the helicopter to crash.
