Incident Overview
A pilot reported an accident during an approach to a sod strip. The pilot had reduced power at 1,000 feet and applied carburetor heat to conduct an extended glide toward the landing area.
Pilot Account
According to the pilot, while on final approach over a wheat field, airspeed decreased. The pilot moved the throttle forward to add power, but the engine loaded up and coughed. The pilot noted that he had not cleared the engine during the glide.
Sequence of Events
