Incident Overview
During an air show performance, an aircraft was observed flying slowly over the runway on a southerly heading at an altitude of approximately 200 to 250 feet above ground level. The pilot applied full left rudder along with full up elevator, causing the aircraft to enter a spin.
Maneuver and Impact
After completing one turn of the spin, the pilot applied full opposite rudder while the elevator remained in the full up position. The aircraft then struck the runway on a northerly heading in a nose-low attitude of about 50 degrees.
