Incident Details
The flight was conducted for the purpose of practicing aerial application techniques. It was the pilot's first flight in this particular make and model of aircraft. The aircraft was carrying water in the chemical tanks during the practice maneuvers.
Sequence of Events
While performing a practice run over an open field, the left main landing gear contacted the ground. This contact resulted in damage to the gear strut. Despite the damage, the pilot was able to continue flying and returned to the airport.
Upon landing, the previously damaged left main gear collapsed. The collapse caused the aircraft to ground loop, subsequently flipping over onto its back. The inverted position marked the final resting state of the aircraft after the landing roll.
