Event Sequence
During the takeoff climb, at an altitude of approximately 600 feet above ground level, the rear engine experienced a loss of power. About 20 seconds after this event, the front engine also lost power. The pilot had initiated a turn towards the downwind leg of the traffic pattern. However, while turning to final approach, all engine power was lost. The aircraft subsequently impacted terrain approximately half a mile from the airport.

After the event, the pilot reported that the fuel tanks had emptied. He stated that the fuel quantity gauges indicated about one-quarter full at the time. The pilot noted that he should have visually inspected the fuel tanks rather than relying on the gauge indications.
