Incident Details
A training flight was conducting a landing approach. On final approach, the student pilot lowered the flaps from 25 degrees to the full down position. The student then informed the instructor that he was using an unusual amount of back pressure on the controls.
Sequence of Events
The instructor checked the trim setting and found it to be full nose-up at an indicated airspeed of 75 knots. The instructor then directed the student to begin the flare. The student responded that the controls were not functioning correctly. At that point, the instructor grasped the yoke firmly. The aircraft touched down in a three-point attitude. During the landing roll, the nose landing gear collapsed.
