Landing and Initial Problem
According to the pilot, the approach and landing were normal up to touchdown. Upon touchdown, the aircraft shuddered and pulled to the right. The pilot kept the aircraft on the runway by applying left brake and using nosewheel steering. After continuing down the runway for about 1,500 feet, the aircraft slowed to approximately 10 mph. At that point, it yawed violently to the right and skidded with the left wing forward. The left main landing gear collapsed as the aircraft came to a stop.
Post-Landing Examination
Following the incident, an examination of the landing gear was conducted. When both wheels were rotated together, the right wheel was found to rotate slower than the left, but neither wheel was locked. During manual rotation of the right wheel, a brake puck fell out of the brake assembly.
Brake Disassembly Findings
The brake assembly was disassembled for further inspection. This revealed that a second brake puck was also loose. After the brake was reassembled, it operated normally.
