Incident Overview
An aircraft experienced an engine power loss during climb-out at 3000 feet, leading to a forced landing off airport. The airplane came to rest after colliding with a street curb in a new business park construction area.
Pilot Actions
According to the pilot, the engine RPM began to decrease during the initial climb. As the engine lost power to 1000 RPM, the pilot applied carburetor heat. The pilot also switched the fuel selector from Both to Left and Right tank positions, but engine power did not return. When the throttle was pumped, the RPM momentarily increased but then the engine ceased operating entirely. The pilot then conducted a forced landing in the construction area.
Post-Accident Examination
Following the accident, the operator and an insurance representative examined the engine. The inspection revealed no mechanical failures or malfunctions that would have caused the power loss.
