Incident Details
A student pilot, flying solo, was on a cross-country flight. After approximately 3.6 hours of flight time, the engine lost power. The pilot conducted an emergency landing on a ranch road. During the landing rollout, the right wing of the aircraft struck a telephone pole, causing damage to the wing.
Investigation Findings
Post-accident examination revealed that the aircraft had a usable fuel supply of 22.5 gallons. The estimated total fuel consumption for takeoff, climb, and cruise was 21.94 gallons. No preimpact mechanical failure or malfunction was found. The investigation did not identify any issues with the aircraft's systems or components that could have contributed to the power loss.
