What happened

The pilot borrowed the aircraft to provide a friend with a familiarization flight in an airplane equipped with retractable landing gear. While the aircraft was in flight, campers in the vicinity observed its maneuvers. The observers saw the aircraft perform a stall followed by a recovery. Shortly thereafter, the pilot initiated a second stall. This time, however, the aircraft entered a spin. After completing at least three turns, the aircraft disappeared behind trees. Witnesses reported hearing no sound of added power during the maneuver.
