Incident Overview
An aircraft collided with high tension wires while flying at an altitude of approximately 100 feet above ground level. The pilot subsequently landed the aircraft on water in a controlled manner. After impact with the water, the aircraft nosed over.
Sequence of Events
Passengers reported that they experienced no difficulties until they heard a loud bang and realized the aircraft had contacted the wires. A witness also heard the bang and observed the aircraft descending. The ditching was executed in a controlled fashion, though the aircraft flipped forward upon water contact.
Evacuation and Rescue
Following the water landing, two occupants evacuated the aircraft and swam to shore. The remaining two occupants were rescued by a boat operated by the witness who had heard the bang and seen the aircraft go down. All four occupants evacuated safely.
